According to the ONS Labour Force Survey from February 2012, up to 8.1 million Britons have never used the internet and around 14 million use the internet infrequently.
It said this will provide faster and more reliable mobile internet connectivity for individuals and businesses, particularly those in rural areas or social housing, that don’,telephone portable;t have access to high speed broadband at home.

Separately, the Ofcom Communications Market Report from last August stated that nine out of ten people in the UK now own a mobile and one in seven households are now mobile-only.
Everything Everywhere has become a founding member of Go ON UK in an attempt to get more people online. It?will deliver a number of initiatives in stores and in the community, starting later this year, to encourage people to get online.

EE has announced the pricing for its iPhone 5 tariffs on T-Mobile and Orange with the promise that anyone taking one can switch to an EE branded 4G plan when it becomes available in their area without paying for breaking their original contract.

On Orange the phone will be available on four tariffs all with unlimited texts and calls. The 16GB version of the device will be free on the ?46 and ?51 per month plans for 3GB and unlimited internet respectively, with an up-front cost for the phone of ?109.99 on the cheapest available plan ?36 with 1GB of data. Prices for the 32GB and 64GB range from ?39.99 to ?269.99.

Desborough, who has more than 22 years’ experience in the mobile industry following stints at Nokia and Palm, will be responsible for the manufacturer’s accounts with Three and Phones 4U.

The docking socket on the handset has also changed. A new one, which Apple has called ‘Lightening’, is now included and is 80 per cent smaller than the charging point seen on previous iPhone models.
The iPhone 5 is powered by Apple’s dual-core A6 processor, which is 22 per cent smaller than the one found in the 4S and twice as fast at processing graphics and numbers.
The smartphone can be pre-ordered from Apple from this Friday (September 14), with the handset going on sale next Friday (September 21).
Also included for the first time is an LTE chip. This will be compatible with EE’s impending 4G network in the UK, which is expected to go live this autumn.
So far, EE, O2 and Vodafone have confirmed they will stock the device. Further release details and tariff pricing will be announced in due course.
The iPhone 5 houses an eight-megapixel camera that is 25 per cent smaller. It includes a new low light mode and panorama feature.
It has a four-inch touchscreen that has 44 per cent more colour saturation and is 7.8mm thick (18 per cent thinner), weighing 120g (20 per cent lighter).
Apple also announced that the iPhone 3G S is to be discontinued, with the iPhone 4 becoming the company’s entry-level model.
