The decline in prepay customers took net customer additions to 204,000 with contract customers now making up 51 per cent of its total UK customer base.

O2 has added 204,000 customers to its UK base in the first half of 2012,Günstige Tablet PC, but still showed a 5.3 per cent drop in revenues in its Q2 results.

O2 also reported smartphone penetration had increased by eight per cent compared to the first two quarters of last year with 42 per cent of customers now using the devices and almost 90 per cent of contracts sold in the period including Smartphones.

Revenues in its second quarter fell to ?1.3 billion in the UK, attributed to a fall in average revenue per customer.

The joint venture with Tesco also reported growth in customer numbers with an increase of 136,000 in the second quarter. Tesco Mobile had 3.2 million customers by the end of the quarter, a 20 per cent rise on June 2011.

Its number of customers increased one per cent to 22.4 million by the end of June, a rise largely attributable to the addition of 482,000 new contract customers in the first half of the year.
